This is where our skincare line begins. By my tree bark path in the garden. It gets a little out of sight. Eagerly, rhizomes with new shoots make their way and cross over to the other side of the path. Nature is making its way. Still, I also like being able to keep my clothing dry as I walk along the path. So without running into overhanging grass stalks, persicaria and shield leaves. When I formulate a new product, I first go into the garden for inspiration.
A mini universe
As I make my way, pulling away pachysandra, moving a lady's mantle, I watch the rainwater in the shield leaves form a stream. There are some berries in it from the tree above. And a larva swims in it. An ichneumon wasp seeks nectar from a flower just above it. A fat hairy bumblebee lands for a moment to drink some water. Its hind legs are yellow from the pollen it carries. A Great Emperor Dragonfly flies purposefully up and down, right past me. This little universe in my garden is buzzing with life. Life that we want to preserve, for the future of the earth.

Recently, we have also had a mole diligently making molehills. To me, a sign that my garden is healthy. A mole eats insect larvae, and raids mouse nests. I tend to embrace the whole ecosystem, every living creature has a role in the food chain.

How it began
MOTHR EARTH PROOF® was founded in 2021 by Andrea van Reeken-Slee in Amsterdam. Since she was 17, she has been immersing herself in the effects of herbs and plants from both Eastern and Western medicine. What began as a personal fascination grew into a clear mission:
Connecting people to the power of nature. That's what we do!
With Andrea's knowledge of medicinal plants and Western and Eastern medicine, she developed a 4-step skincare routine that is all-natural, science-based and deeply nourishing for mature and sensitive skin.

"Before delving into formulating skincare, I was mostly concerned with ideas about beautiful, powerful ingredients and their effects on the skin. When I decided to actually shape those ideas and build my own brand, I started to delve into organic skincare formulation. A wonderful and deepening study in which I could perfectly combine my medical background with my love for plants and skin health.
My passion lies in developing new formulas and researching how natural ingredients work on the skin. But what inspires me most - and what I also experience best on my own skin - are the old skincare rituals from Japan and India. I have woven that age-old knowledge of care, softness and skin balance into the products of MOTHR EARTH PROOF®. Exactly that is what makes our formulas so special and effective."
Developing for 2 years

So I began building my own natural skincare brand, inspired by ancient skincare routines from Japan and India, among others. In the early stages, I collaborated with a Dutch laboratory that has specialized in 100% natural skincare for more than 40 years. Together we developed formulas that are completely plant-based, pure and effective - and that process took time.
After two years of intensive development and testing, we could proudly launch our first products.
We now have our own laboratory, where we craft our formulas - with even more control over quality, freshness and skin efficacy. As a result, our skincare is more powerful than ever, and precisely tailored to what sensitive, mature skin really needs.

This routine begins with a gentle, respectful cleansing, followed by a nourishing mask that you massage in and rinse off. Next, you hydrate your skin with powerful botanical actives, then apply a pure elixir that nourishes your skin at the cellular level. Finally, you finish with a restorative, protective layer that maintains the hydrated, healthy look for a long time.

Ghanaian women
Our shea butter comes from Ghana. For many years, our supplier has maintained a good relationship, working with women from nearby villages. They collect the shea nuts and ensure purity through precise filtration before sending it to the laboratory, where MOTHR EARTH PROOF® produces its magic formulas.
This year our supplier is going to Ghana again. What is important to them is that they do not work with large-scale projects but with women from small villages who still know the traditional methods, collecting shea nuts around small rural villages and skillfully turning them into shea butter.
Our Step 1 - Scrub & Shine is formulated with this. It not only provides our skincare users with an insanely beautiful product, but also contributes to the well-being of the local community, especially the women and their families.
