Facial Gua Sha Facial Massage | Lift, Glow & Lymphatic Drainage

Facial Gua Sha - ancient Chinese massage within your skincare routine

Facial Gua Sha derives from the ancient traditional Chinese Gua Sha treatment.
Gua means scraping and Sha means sand. In the original technique, scraping causes small blood spots that look like reddish-purple sand on the skin.

Facial Gua Sha is much less intense. The touch with the skin is softer, making it a relaxing and refined ritual. The gemstone is moved gently and controlled over the skin, respecting skin structure and connective tissue.

Facial Gua Sha integrated into the MOTHR EARTH PROOF® skincare routine

With Facial Gua Sha, the same sequence applies as with our cupping routine. This sequence is essential to protect the skin and achieve optimal results.

Step 1 - Cleanse & activate

Start with cleansed skin. Use Step 1 Regeneration Peeling | PEEL + SHINE or Flower + Shine on sensitive skin. This prepares the skin and already stimulates circulation.

Step 2 - Hydration

Apply Step 2 | SKIN DRINK Serum to hydrate and support the skin barrier.

Step 3 - Gua Sha massage

Apply Step 3 | ELIXIR Vitamin Bomb. This is essential so that the Gua Sha gemstone can glide smoothly over the skin without pulling.
Perform the massage gently and in a controlled manner following the described technique.

STEP 4 - Recovery & nourishment after the massage

After Gua Sha, the skin is in extra need of nourishment and recovery. Therefore, always conclude with STEP 4 | REPAIR Timeless Beauty, to support the skin barrier and seal the absorbed active ingredients.

How often do you do a Facial Gua Sha massage?

There are no set rules on how often you can do a Gua Sha facial massage. However, regular performance does ensure optimal results. Consistency is more important than intensity.

Charging your Gua Sha gemstone

Charging a Gua Sha stone means absorbing positive energy.

A well-known way of charging is placing the stone on the windowsill during a full moon. The feminine, powerful energy of the full moon and your intentions provide the stone with positive, loving energy.

With a new Gua Sha stone, it is a good idea to hold it under a running tap beforehand. This rinses energy that is not yours from the stone.

How do you clean your Gua Sha gemstone?

Always clean your Gua Sha gemstone after use. This removes oil and any bacteria. Use water and a mild soap for this purpose.

Do not use strong cleansers and avoid direct exposure to bright light or heat. This may discolor the stone.

When should I not perform Facial Gua Sha massage?

Facial Gua Sha is not recommended for:

  • Fever or flu symptoms.

  • Swollen lymph nodes

  • Skin cancer

  • A fungal infection or infected skin

  • Cystic acne or open wounds

  • Injury to the face

  • Recent injection of botox: let the skin rest for at least 14 days. Botox needs this time to settle; Gua Sha may displace botox

  • Pregnancy: only in consultation with the attending physician

When in doubt due to a medical reason, it is always wise to consult with the attending physician first.
