"How I resolved my eczema rash without hormone ointment - and what you can learn from it. This blog is NOT medical advice, just my personal story about my eczema rash and how I dealt with it. For serious skin conditions, always see your doctor."

Eczema is painful, itchy, upsetting and often incomprehensible. Those who struggle with it know: it affects not only your skin, but also your mood. In this blog, I share my personal experience with a sudden, severe eczema outbreak - and how I resolved it with nutrition, natural supplements and the power of my own skincare.

Symptoms and diagnosis: a classic pattern

The eruption was severe and sudden. Symmetrically on both sides of my neck, around my elbows, on my thighs: redness, swelling, burning and itching that forced me to scratch. My family doctor suspected a contact allergy, and even suggested that I had caught the hairs of a processionary caterpillar. But the pattern was too symmetrical, too systemic. The suggested solution: hormone ointment.

I thanked kindly. My approach became one of listening deeply to my body, and responding to what it was asking for.

My plan: food and histamine under the microscope

All at once, I removed all foods that I knew contained or released histamine:

  • Gluten

  • Dairy

  • Fish, seafood

  • Melon, cherries

  • Other histamine-rich or histamine-releasing foods (such as eggplant, spinach, tomato, aged cheese, nuts, avocado, alcohol)

In addition, I used a natural supplement: NaturDAO Plus, an enzyme that helps break down histamine in the gut. I suspect that I do not produce this enzyme sufficiently, which explains my sensitivity.

After five days, my skin had calmed down. The swelling disappeared. The itching gone. Only minimal scabs remained as a reminder of scratching.

What is histamine and why does it affect your skin?

Histamine is a natural substance involved in your immune system, as well as your gut health and skin reactions. An excess of histamine or reduced breakdown can lead to inflammation, itching, rashes and eczema-like symptoms.

We also call this histamine intolerance: not because your body does not tolerate histamine, but because you cannot break it down sufficiently. The solution is not to suppress it, but to support it.

Natural skin care that helps with eczema

During this outburst, I was reaffirmed in the power of my own skincare line, MOTHR EARTH PROOF®. Every product I developed is thoughtful, plant-based and designed to restore the skin barrier.

Here's what I used - and how it helped:

Step 1 - Peel + Shine.

A gentle, nourishing exfoliating with black rice extract, matcha and pure Shea directly from Ghana. Works soothing, reduces itching and accelerates the recovery of the skin barrier. Not an aggressive scrub, but a balm of comfort.

Step 2 - Skin Drink Serum

Hydrating, soothing and nourishing. This step brought instant relief. The rich blend of niacinamide, Ectoin and symphytum repairs the skin and reduces inflammatory reactions.

Step 3 - Elixir - Vitamin Bomb soothes

A fast-absorbing elixir full of antioxidants that deeply nourishes the skin and greatly reduced itching. Ideal for skin that is hypersensitive or damaged.

Step 4 - Repair - Moisture Layer

A protective, repairing layer with Ectoin® - the ingredient of choice to soothe stress-sensitive skin and restore barriers.

Step X - MIST Facial Toner

For me, this was a gamechanger during this eczema period. The mist soothed, calmed and brought instant peace to itchy spots. Rich in hydrolates with astringent and soothing properties.

What you can try yourself for eczema:

  • Leave out histamine-rich foods temporarily

  • Avoid triggers such as gluten, dairy and alcohol

  • Use supportive supplements such as DAO enzymes

  • Take care of your skin with mild, natural products without perfumes or synthetic additives

  • Eat light, warm and digestive-friendly foods

My advice

Eczema requires gentleness. Inside and out. I share my experience not as medical advice or diagnosis, but as inspiration for anyone struggling with chronic skin complaints. There is so much you can do yourself. And it starts with listening to your body.

My eczema disappeared within five days. Without hormone ointments. With plants, nutrition, mildness and the right support.

Stay close to yourself. And give your skin what it really needs.
