Help, suddenly I have eczema. My quest for recovery (day 3)

A personal story about a sudden skin reaction, listening to your body and the power of rest, nutrition and natural skincare.

It started with a few spots on my cleavage. Not immediately alarming, but I kept an eye on it. Then my jawline started itching, my earlobe, the sides of my neck - and there it was: eczema. Itchy, slightly swollen, dry, the skin a bit stiff. No open wounds, because I scratch gently. But uncomfortable it certainly is. And new. I'm 56, going through menopause, and suddenly all sorts of little ailments pop up. But this one? I didn't know that one yet.

By chance, I was already at the doctor's office. He immediately suggested hormone cream. I nodded politely, but knew: I'm not going to do that. Even if the itching becomes unbearable, I don't want to suppress my skin. Because I felt it in everything: this was my body calling out. Something wasn't right.

What is my skin telling me?

My first instinct was: nutrition. What has changed in the past few days? What have I been eating, drinking? What combinations? I called my ayurvedic therapist Ewa Panas. We discussed my symptoms, and within minutes the nutrition plan was established.

My nutritional approach to eczema

From then on, I went strict:

  • No gluten

  • No dairy

  • No egg

  • No meat, chicken or fish

  • No Nuts

  • No coffee

  • No chocolate

  • No fruit - especially melon

Yes, melon. I hadn't seen that one coming. But I had thoroughly enjoyed the summer fruit: cherries, gooseberries, blackcurrants, strawberries, peaches, nectarines, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries.... And melon. Lots of melon. Ewa explained: melon retains water, blocks lymph flow. And if waste products can't get out, they come out through your skin. I also had a lot of edema the last few days. It fit exactly.

After 3 days of strictly following this plan, my edema is gone. And the eczema? It is slowly subsiding. I see relief.

What I use on my skin

Despite the sensitivity, I still want to take care of my skin. But with gentleness. My own line, MOTHR EARTH PROOF, seems to do exactly what I need: soothe, moisturize, soften. My routine:

My motivation: recovery without suppression

I want to help my body, not force it. I want to get rid of waste products through the natural way. Eczema is not an enemy for me now, but a signal. My goal is rest, recovery, flow.

I am now on day 3. Next week I will blog further. Seeing if my skin comes back into balance. Because that's what I wish for every woman: that she feels heard, even if her skin suddenly tells her otherwise.

MOTHR EARTH PROOF - Because your skin also tells its own story.
